Here at West Point Buick GMC, we take great pride in working alongside General Motors. The company’s morals and ethics are truly respectable, and this marks the second year in a row that Ethisphere has added GM to its list of the World’s Most Ethical Companies.
Ethisphere’s 2021 list honored 135 different companies across 47 industries and 22 countries. GM is the only automaker with a presence on the list this year, and was honored for upholding values, strong leadership, and unwavering integrity during a difficult year.
“While addressing the tough challenges of 2020,” says Ethisphere CEO Timothy Erblich, “we saw companies lead — above all other institutions — on earning the trust of stakeholders through resilience and a commitment to ethics and integrity. The World’s Most Ethical Companies honorees continue to demonstrate an unwavering commitment to the highest values and positively impacting the communities they serve.”
Of particular merit was how GM handled itself during the height of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. From safety precautions for employees and customers to dedicating much of their production efforts to making ventilators and face masks for frontline workers, GM worked tirelessly to save lives and flatten the curve. The company also took a stand against systemic racism by donating $10 million to organizations that promote racial equality.
GM is a company whose care and passion for customers and workers extends far beyond simply running a business. It’s this integrity, respect, and trustworthiness that makes us truly proud to see GM recognized as a global leader in ethics.
