2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro™ Editions Make Best-in-Class Even Better

2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro Editions

The all-new Sierra 1500 is already one of the most versatile, capable, and advanced full-size pickups to ever hit the road, but this legend is about to take things to the next level as GMC rolls out new 2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro™ Editions. Available on Sierra Denali 1500 and Sierra AT4 1500 trims, the carbon-fiber CarbonPro™ bed boasts best-in-class dent, scratch, and corrosion resistance.

Strength and durability

Engineered for unrivaled strength and durability, the carbon fiber of the CarbonPro™ bed lends it better scratch, dent, and corrosion-resistance than any other truck bed around today.

The CarbonPro™ bed lasts longer thanks to the natural corrosion-resistance of carbon fiber, which withstands weathering and other damages that often cause major problems for lesser truck beds.

Reduced weight

Not only is the CarbonPro™ bed stronger, it’s lighter, too. In fact, it weighs 25 percent less than a traditional steel bed.

Increased volume

The Sierra 1500 already has a class-leading cargo capacity, but the CarbonPro™ bed takes things even further, increasing overall bed capacity by an entire cubic foot, enabling best-in-class cargo volume.

Enhanced functionality

The CarbonPro™ bed features two additional tie-down locations for added versatility, as well as new indentations designed specifically to accommodate dirt and street bikes.

The 2019 GMC Sierra CarbonPro™ Editions head into production this June and should be arriving at West Point Buick GMC shortly thereafter. These durable beds will be in limited supply for the 2019 model year, so call ahead to secure yours.

When Are the Best Times to Fill Up the Tank?

Best Times to Fill Up the Tank

While gasoline prices are not as high as they were a few years ago, getting gas is still a significant expense when it comes to car ownership. If you are looking for ways to save, here are some of the best time to fil up the tank.

According to GasBuddy’s nationwide analysis, Mondays are the days you can expect to see the cheapest gas prices. Sundays and Tuesdays follow. On the other side of the coin, Thursdays and Fridays are the most expensive days, on average. However, here in Texas, Wednesdays are often the most expensive days to buy gas.

If you are more concerned about saving time, you can follow the same advice. On Sundays and Mondays, you will have the shortest wait times. And, if you want to fill-up during your commute the work, the best time to visit the gas station is between 8-10 a.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Patrick DeHaan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, said, “Our data shows that most motorists are filling up on not only the most expensive day, but the busiest. Having a tank of gas last until Sunday or even Monday each week can collectively save drivers $2.6 billion and spare the headache of not being able to find an available pump.”

If you’re looking for a new ride to pump petrol into, look no further than West Point Buick GMC. We’ve got the latest fuel-efficient vehicles from two of America’s favorite premium brands.

Buick Cascada Discontinued, So Get While the Getting’s Good

A lot of drivers have a soft spot for droptops because they make springtime and summer driving feel all the more adventurous and freeing. Something about driving with the top down in a convertible just seems so quintessentially American. But as market demand shifts toward more crossovers and SUVs, the convertible becomes less and less of a priority. For this reason, the Buick Cascada will be discontinued after the 2019 model year.

Buick Cascada discontinued

If you’ve always wanted a stylish Buick convertible, now is the time to act. The 2019 Buick Cascada is an elegant and refined choice that’s perfect for all-season driving but especially tailored for tackling the open road when the sun is held high over Houston. From its quick-retracting top, which stows in just 17 seconds at speeds of up to 31 mph, to its smooth handling informed by StabiliTrak and an innovative Hi-Per strut front suspension, the Cascada is fun to drive and great for showing off.

Because both the Buick Cascada and Buick LaCrosse will be leaving the lineup after 2019, you can expect to see them replaced with exciting new crossover options in the future — the names Envoy and Enspire have been thrown around a bit, but we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, if you want to get in on the action with a new Cascada or LaCrosse, get into West Point Buick GMC and take one for a spin.

CarbonPro Box

The 2019 GMC Sierra is the first truck in the game available with a carbon fiber cargo box. The CarbonPro box delivers best-in-class dent, scratch, and corrosion resistance, making it the superior choice for rugged work.

Segment-First Technologies

The 2019 GMC Sierra offers first-in-segment technologies like a Multi-Color Head-Up Display and Rear Camera Mirror, which helps keep you and your passengers safer and more secure. The Sierra is also the first truck in the industry to feature an auto Electric Parking Brake, which keeps your trailer on the ball and helps you avoid unwanted rolling.

What to See at the Johnson Space Center

There are a lot of cool sights to see and do in Houston — like NASA’s Johnson Space Center. If you’re planning a visit, you can expect to see a lot of fun, exciting things.

Johnson Space Center

Rocket Park

Ever wondered what the rockets that launch missions to the moon look like? When the Apollo missions were launched to the moon, they were launched with a Saturn V rocket. You’ll see one of these at Rocket Park, where a long shed houses the most complete of the three Saturn Vs that are left. Rocket Park also hosts two rockets outside an Apollo capsule on a Little Joe II and a Mercury Redstone pointing to the sky.

Neutral Buoyancy Lab

At Johnson Space Center, you can also see where some astronauts go to train for their missions. The Neutral Buoyancy Lab is a pool with life-size models of International Space Station (ISS) modules underneath. Astronauts wear suits that make their weight the same as the water to mimic the feel of zero gravity, enabling them to practice their missions in the pool.

Not surprisingly, the Johnson Space Center hosts weekly events where visitors can meet astronauts. One regular event is Lunch with an Astronaut, a comfortable and casual experience where attendees can hear astronauts tell stories of their experiences.

If you want a new vehicle you’ll be over the moon about, stop into West Point Buick GMC!

While the zoo is usually a place to spot wild animals, it becomes so much more in the winter. Gorgeous light displays throughout the zoo turn the park into a must-see winter wonderland.

Ice Skating at Discovery Green (Through Jan. 27)

Whether you’re good at ice skating or have trouble even staying upright, you have plenty of time to practice! An ice-skating rink in downtown Houston will be open through January and is the perfect family-friendly outing.

The Christmas Village is perfect for kids, but adults can just as easily find themselves wide-eyed and gape-jawed. There’s sledding on a faux-snow slide, live music, scavenger hunts, and more. There are even fake snowball fights using cotton balls.

Alvin Christmas Train (Through Dec. 23)

Take a trip to Alvin to hop on this holiday-themed trained. While it’s not quite the Polar Express, it will take you to see various Christmas sights and over 300,000 lights, all from the seat of an old-fashioned train car.

From our family at West Point Buick GMC to you and yours: Happy holidays!

J.D. Power Awards Buick Total Ownership Experience Award

Total Ownership Experience Award

Customer satisfaction is a top priority here at West Point Buick GMC, and we think it’s safe to say that Buick feels the same way. That’s why it comes as no surprise that J.D. Power has recently named Buick the first-ever mass-market automaker brand to receive its new Total Ownership Experience award.

Automotive brands can earn this award by offering top-notch customer service throughout the entire vehicle buying and ownership process. Each brand is reviewed in five categories before the winners are decided. These categories include: sales, appearance, service, long-term reliability, and initial quality.

Doug Betts, senior vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power, stated, “We continue to examine every aspect of customers’ opinions on vehicle sales, quality, and dependability, as well as dealership customer service. Addressing these areas effectively creates repeat buyers and brand advocates, so it’s important for manufacturers and dealers to listen, learn, and continue to evolve with the times.”

To earn the Total Ownership Experience award, Buick had to do well in five other studies from J.D. Power: Execution and Layout (APEAL), Automotive Performance, Initial Quality Study (IQS), Sales Satisfaction Index (SSI), Customer Service Index (CSI), and Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS). Specifically, the premium brand came out on top in the J.D. Power Sales Satisfaction Index and Customer Service Index last year.

Come test drive your favorite Buick model at West Point Buick GMC, for even more reasons to fall in love with the brand’s reliable and rewarding vehicles.

2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali Is Pickup Truck of the Year

2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali

The pickup truck market is hotly contested, with mid-size, full-size, and heavy-duty trucks all vying for attention. That’s why distinctions like Truck Trend’s Pickup Truck of the Year are so important as potential pickup buyers determine which truck is right for them.

And for the year 2017, the 2018 GMC Sierra 2500HD Denali claimed that title.

What was it that led to the Sierra 2500HD Denali’s victory? Apparently, a mix of qualitative and quantitative data, according to contributor Jered Korfhage. “With a long list of numbers-based wins and an equally impressive amount of subjective praise, there’s just no beating this GMC for our 2018 Pickup Truck of the Year title.”

As the top trim level (Denali), this specific model offers everything you could want from a massive heavy-duty pickup. On the one hand, you get pure power: maximum conventional trailering capacity of 13,000 pounds, maximum fifth-wheel/gooseneck rating of 15,400 pounds, and a maximum payload of 3,233 pounds.

On the other hand, it is packed with a number of sophisticated features, like smartphone compatibility, heated and ventilated perforated leather-appointed seating, premium trailering mirrors, and the CornerStep rear bumper.

You can test drive the new Sierra 2500HD currently at West Point Buick GMC.
